Jon's first concert for children was 15 years ago..
His good friend Kristine asked him to sing in her classroom and Jon was happy to help her out. He knew a couple of Sesame Street songs and could handle the lyrics to "B-I-N-G-O", but he needed more of a repertoire for this debut kid's gig. He sat down and wrote some songs that he thought the kids would like. When the day of the sing-along finally came, Kristine's class had a great time, and Jon had an even more fun than the kids. Soon after that, he decided to pursue his Masters in Education, kept writing children's  songs... and sang with kids at any pre-school, day care, or birthday party he could find. He found out that writing & performing music for young children was both challenging and extremely rewarding. Kids were a great (and honest) audience!

Jon Nelson has become a mainstay in the national children' s music scene. 
An award winning songwriter and performer, he's sung with audiences across the country, both as a solo artist, and with his children's rock band "Jon Nelson's Rockin' Kids' Revue". Jon's fresh, exciting and innovative original songs have appeared on several nationally distributed compilation CDs and his music is heard on radio rotations in the United States and abroad. In 1998, his original song "Can You Feel It" charted in several European markets and he can be heard on many of the nation's most popular children's music compilation CDs. His original children's CD, "Songs for Great Kids", is a big seller across the USA!
